West African Drum Class with Malari Moore

Wednesdays, 7 – 9p ( (beginning October 20)
Join D’jembe soloist Malari Moore for a West African Drum class that will focus on exploring rhythms of Senegal, Mali and Guinea. Beginning and intermediate drummers are welcome, as this class is designed to improve your drumming technique, help you identify rhythms and styles and gain experience with playing in groups.
Afro – Contemporary Dance with Andog Nkobena
6 week intensive
Fridays, 7 – 8:30p (beginning October 15)
The Contemporary African Dance class introduces the fundamentals of coupe de calle and ndombolo in both their music and dance aspects. The history of this contemporary dance style will be discussed and its dance vocabulary established during the course of the class. The basic movements including waist winding/locking with intricate, rapid footwork. The up-tempo music and high-energy dance steps will allow students to strengthen their core, increase their flexibility and endurance.
